Two Black Scholars Taking on New Faculty Roles

Jonathan Howard is a new assistant professor of English at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He is also affiliated with the African and African Diaspora Studies program at the college. Dr. Howard is currently working on a book entitled The Blueness of Blackness, which examines the figurative use of water in African Diaspora literature.

Dr. Howard is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he majored in English and Africana studies. He holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Koffi Pierre Yao was hired as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Delaware. He will begin teaching at the university in the fall of 2018. Dr. Yao is now conducting postdoctoral research at the Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois.

Dr. Yao is a graduate of the University of Delaware. He holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
