University of Maryland Eastern Shore Takes Recruitment on the Road

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore has a new recruiting tool. Money from a grant program was used to buy a customized Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 van that is being used as a mobile recruiting station.

The van will be used by the Office of Admissions and Recruitment to travel to local high schools, community colleges, recruitment fairs and other community events. The van is equipped with a satellite television system, wireless internet, and computer stations. The van can seat up to nine people including a four-seat lounge where recruiters can talk face to face with prospective students.

John Allen, chair of the board of visitors at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, said that “this puts UMES in a great position to market the university and to go directly where the students are with a one-stop shop. Now is the time for out-of-the-box thinking and this is the start of something big that we are proud to be involved with.”
