Kanye West Has Donated $150,000 to the Family of Black Security Guard Gunned Down by Police

A few weeks ago, we reported of Jemel Roberson, a security guard on duty at Manny’s Blue Room, in Robbins, IL who was fatally shot by police on November 11th. While working at Manny’s Blue Room that night, a shooting broke out. Roberson, shortly after, subdued the suspect at gunpoint, the police showed up and fatally shot the armed security guard as he had the suspect on the ground.

Witnesses reports state that they were shouting that Roberson was security before he was shot. In preliminary findings released by Illinois State Police, who are investigating the shooting it states that the officer gave “multiple verbal commands” to drop his weapon. Witnesses also went on to state that Roberson was wearing a hat that said “security” on it.

Midlothian Police Chief Daniel Delaney issued a statement saying “The Midlothian Police Department is completely saddened by this tragic incident and we give our heartfelt condolences to Jemel, his family and his friends. There are no words that can be expressed as to the sorrow his family is dealing with”.

On the day of his death, the family started the GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses. On Sunday, GoFundMe confirmed to FOX News, Kanye West’s 10 donations to the family totaling $150,000
