Hey DNew, I am a student participating in Breakthrough Junior Challenge, may I know whether the footage in 00:14 copyrighted? And can I use it in my competition? I saw it in quite a lot of videos.

that's not proof. So quick to jump to conclusion…running out of money, LIGO?

The apparatus used was only detecting wave formation in one dimension, this is why it looks so tiny. Call me when you you can detect them in 3d space, then you'll be surprised.

im a 13 year old that is still in secondary school that knows very little about space and physics but im jus trying to say a point here so hear me out. Gravity gets its force from a mass, right. And instien said him self that objects with mass cant travel the speed of light because the faster you go the heavier you become. So for gravitional waves to be true they cant travel the speed of light. So when she said these gravitional waves travled the speed of light, it wouldnt be true because in order for it to have mass and travel the spped of light it would have to have infinite energy. which is impossoble. what i said before im 13.. jus saying

Black holes are uber dense stars, not empty pockets of space, contrary to popular belief. It's funny how science moves forward making discoveries but the average person still thinks things are years behind. Btw if you believe the Big Bang is real, you are religious. Just sayin.

    1. Where is the location of these black holes? Scientific method requires the location so others may observe and calculate! Answer: somewhere in space. O great thanks
    2. You cant compress and expand a vacuum according to Einstein's "GR" . So what are these waves riding on?
3.Tell me what dark matter is? Physicists say 95% of space is this unknown dark matter. Yet LIGO uses 5% of space that physicists know about and say the black holes did it and the waves traveled through from unknown parts of the universe through this dark matter that they no nothing about and we got these lasers and mirrors to measure a fraction of proton length and that all the variances of movement except for dark matter are accounted for and Ureka we found gravity waves! ??! WT ???!
Please for the love of science! Use the scientific method!
There is a-lot of brown matter in this video!

It is amazing that Einstein speculated that this happens about 100 years ago.

This proves nothing for the Theory of Relativity in fact it does the opposite and shows how big Albert Einstein ideas have been hard pressed and presented like its proof of concept for the nature of reality but in fact Albert Einstein big idea is just only conjecture after all how can Einstein or Science for that matter understand this "Gravitational wave "correctly if the science still hasn't have a clear thought about what "Gravity" is. In fact you can make more discoveries just by changing the I in LIGO to an E.

Why is it so hard for people to understand….God = Science. Science = God. Science is the "how", its like looking at the code behind a webpage.

Amazing…. just came from watching about 2 hours of explanations of why this is a lie/scientific impossibility. All those videos had less than 10k views, and then the media circus videos have hundreds of thousands of views…. people are too lazy to research and just believe anything their phone tells them.

Nay sayers can be such a drag, but just to be sure where we're heading and where we are right now, can I just say that New waves are nothing new, neither are priestly classes, their acolytes, and the prescribed narrative. Selling it like cotton candy to the rest of us may be a relatively recent phenomenon though. Then again, not if you consider traveling performers selling magic potions from the back of caravans?

I hear noting but rar-ra-ra-ing among what sounds like members of a mutual appreciation society, where is the diverse opinions and conflicting view points the west has convinced everyone else to practice? Lest they be accused of cronyism, factionalism or selective reasoning? Not likely when Western powers deal out everything from nuclear power plants to space shuttles to the rest of us I suppose.

So is this "drumming up excitement" via media and entertainment treatment, about drawing more resources into the scientific cause, versus monies and peoples trickling away with little to no institutional gains made? Aside from people eking out a living in the social and biological environment that science and technology has already altered irrevocably?

No wonder there has to be this much force applied to draw people into scientific thought, safe to assume there are opposing forces pushing people in the reverse direction is it? Or is that pure deviation and irrelevancies as far as science is concerned?

YAY! I watched a video "What happened if they collided or what would happen if they did collide?" About a year ago. And I tried talking about it to my teachers but they didn't understand what I WAS SAYING. XD So, FINALLY! I GET TO SEE IT ON A VIDEO AND SAW IT ON THE NEWS! HHEHEHA YAY!
